On 17th March this year, I got to photograph the wedding of one of my oldest friends. Bianca and I met on the first day of upper school and hit it off immediately. We were always together, both in school and out. After leaving school, we remained friends, despite me moving away for a couple of years. This was back in the days before mobile phones, so keeping in touch wasn't that easy! We actually used to write to each other...snail mail style! We've always kept in contact over the years and, even if a year or more goes by before we catch up, it feels like no time has actually passed at all. You know those kind of friendships? Where you don't hang out much, but they somehow know you better than most...
Four years ago, Bianca met her love, the wonderful Hannah. They had their first date at Oast House in Manchester. Four years and two dogs later, they decided to seal the deal and get married at Artisan, just round the corner from where they first met.
I started the day in the 'Bitchin' Lounge' at Artisan, where I hung out with Bea and Hannah, their bridesmaids and another old friend, Bea's best woman, Annis. I did some portraits and captured them all enjoying the retro Photo Booth.
I then headed downstairs to capture the guests arriving and waiting for Bea and Hannah to make their entrance.
Bea and Hannah had a beautiful humanist ceremony, conducted by Maxine Beech. It was so personal and full of love and laughter. Hannah is Manx and so they included a Celtic Handfasting as part of the ceremony, with family members doing readings and helping to tie the ribbons.
We then headed to Oast House for a celebratory drink and toast, before doing some group shots of family and friends back at Artisan. This being Manchester, the weather wasn't really conducive to doing outdoor photography, but the venue is so beautiful, it didn't really matter!
It was then onto the wedding breakfast, speeches and toasts in the gallery at Artisan, a beautiful private dining space upstairs.
It was then time for me to get my glad rags on and party the night away with them! Every bit of the day was perfect and I feel privileged to have been a part of it! Congrats Bea & Hannah, I wish you all the happiness!!!!
