On one of the hottest days of the year, I joined Rachel and Lauren on their wedding day in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. They got ready separately at the Mercure Hotel, so I spent time with both of them whilst they got their hair and make-up done (hair by Farrah at Funky Divas; make-up by my sister-in-law, confusingly also called Louise Westbrooke!). Once they were in their gorgeous dresses, Rachel's from Elite Bridal and Lauren's by Linda Walker, we all headed to The Engine Shed, which had been beautifully styled by Forge Events, with chair covers provided by Michael Richards.
Rachel and Lauren were both accompanied down the aisle by their dads and the bridal party and during the ceremony, Rachel's mum did a touching reading, whilst Lauren's mum was in charge of the wedding rings. After the ceremony, it was time for the group photos (luckily we managed to find some shade so we didn't have people passing out!). We then went for a drive in the fabulous VW camper van, which was renovated and chauffeured by a friend of the couple, to do some photos of the two of them. We'd intended to go to a bridge over the river, but given it was a sunny Saturday, it was heaving! So we implemented plan B and headed somewhere a bit quieter.
We then headed back to the venue to enjoy the speeches (featuring an impromptu sing-a-long!) and a fantastic carvery (followed by the best cheesecake ever), where I was made to feel like a guest, sitting with Rachel's family. Once the food was eaten, it was on to the cutting of the cake and the first dance, followed by a touching father/daughter dance. The evening entertainment was a brilliant ceilidh band (It couldn't have been anything else, with Rachel being Irish!), who got everyone up dancing (evening entertainment provided by Gordon Kellett Entertainment). Here are a few images from the day:
